To the editor:
With apologies to Jimmie Rodgers’ “In the Jailhouse Now":
I have a friend named Double-Cross Don
He likes to cheat and lie and con
He thought he could make fun of Judge Merchan
But I found out on Sunday
That Don got locked up Monday
They got him in the jailhouse way downtown
...
He’s in the jailhouse now
He’s in the jailhouse now
They gagged him once or twice
To shut him up and just be nice
He’s in the jailhouse now
...
Don came to court this week
Then he dozed off and fell asleep
He thinks his trial is just a crazy game
He’ll find out soon enough
That life behind bars is tough
He’ll end up in the jailhouse, he’s to blame
...
He’s in the jailhouse now
He’s in the jailhouse how
We told him once or twice
Just shut your mouth
Or you’ll pay the price
He’s in the jailhouse now
